Born 26 November 1938 in Bouscat (Gironde). Graduate of the Ecole des Beaux-Arts, Bordeaux, and the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts, Paris. Pierre Lagenie is certainly among the current representational sculptors who appear the most in line with the great tradition of sculpture. In fact, his works, stemming from classicism, have in them, however, a certain modernity that makes him a contemporary artist who is clearly situated in this century ! If appearance is important, Lagenie does not want to feel like a prisoner of resemblance, since this was not the goal of his work. He is especially seeking to examine the model's front lines, so that the block of stone or the modelled clay offer to us the vision of something more than a simple resemblance. A discreet and modest artist, Lagenie wishes to solidify mystery by embodying it in a noble material like stone, marble or bronze, in order to try to make a fleeting impression endure.
